When following a recipe we have a list of ingredients, but the preparation of the ingredients are as important as the cooking of them. On this class you will learn the essentials of preparation using a knife.
During the class we will cover:
- Different kitchen knives and their uses.
- Choosing the right knife for you including filleting knives.
- How to look after your knives and how to use a knife safely.
- Cutting skills, fish filleting and techniques for slicing, chopping, dicing, julienne.
The tutor will demonstrate the knife skills for filleting a fish and you will joint a chicken and have different produce to practice first hand, . You will practice your techniques by preparing ingredients to take home, with a recipe, to create a meal – this will include the chicken you have jointed during the class.
